Seminars and Conferences
1. The M.S.University of Baroda will be holding an international seminar on " Higher Education for Knowledge Based Society: Global Reforms" on 20-21 December, 2010. Papers are invited
 2. Abstracts are invited for the subtheme,  'Body Talk: Interrogating Boundaries and Hierarchies in Feminist Discourse', which is part of the upcoming conference of the Indian Association of Women's Studies, which is  scheduled for January 21-24th 2011, at the Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidhalaya in Wardha. The conference this year centers around 'Resisting Marginalisations, Challenging Hegemonies'. The deadline for abstracts is Oct 31. 
3. Takshashila Academia of Economic Research (TAER) Limited, Mumbai, and the India Society for Ecological Economics (INSEE), call for papers for a one-day seminar on “Climate Change and Markets: Opportunities, Challenges, and Policy Concerns” at India International Centre, New Delhi, on January 28, 2011.
4. York University, Toronto, Canada, and XIMB, Orissa, India will be holding a Conference on “Rural Labourers in Neo-liberal India”, 18-19 December 2010 at XIMB (Xavier Institute of Management – Bhubaneswar), Orissa, India. Papers are invited. The deadline is December 5th. 
5.The Centre for Water and Land Resources is organizing a ‘Two Days’ National Workshop on “Impacts of Watershed on Poverty Alleviation” during January 20-21, 2011 at National Institute of Rural Development, Hyderabad 500030. Papers are invited by November 24, 2010. 
6. The 2nd Global Conference on The Gothic - Exploring Critical Issues, will be held from 16th May - Wednesday 18th May 2011 in Warsaw, Poland. The deadline for abstracts is 26 November.
7. The 2nd Global Conference on "Experiencing Prison" will be held on Thursday 19th May – Saturday 21st May 2011 in
Warsaw, Poland. The deadline for abstracts is 26 November.  
8. The 1st Global Conference on Femininity and Masculinity will be held from 16 to 18 May 2011 in Warsaw, Poland. The deadline for abstracts is 26 November.
 9.  The 5th Global Conference on Ethics, Evil, Law and the State will be held from 19 to 21 May 2011 in
Warsaw, Poland. The deadline for abstracts is 26 November. 
10. The Jean Monnet International Conference on Human Security and Security Strategy: Institutions and Policies in a European Perspective, will be held 26-29 May 2011 in Kiev, Ukraine. The deadline for abstracts is Jan 15, 2011. a

Fellowships and Opportunities
1. The Unreasonable Institute  is inviting applications for the 2010 Unreasonable Fellows Program. The deadline for applications is November 10, 2010.
2. The Acumen Fund is offering a fellowship program focusing on leadership skills. The deadline for applications is Nov 15 2010. 
3. ActionAid Denmark has opened up a new category of personnel called 'Inspirators', who will work on development across nations. Applications are invited from people who have experience with voluntary work.
4. d.ust.bin, a webzine, invites entries in the form of short stories. Please go through their submission guidelines first.
5. Applications are invited for Tata's Jagriti Yatra, an annual train journey that takes selected candidates across India to meet unsung heroes. Apply at the earliest. 
6. Nether, a quarterly fiction magazine, invites submissions for its next issue.  
7. The North East Development Foundation is organising the Scholl Research Award for research papers on governance and development in the north-east.  Nominations are open till November 15 2010. 
8. The University of Sydney is offering a Masters of Human Rights and Democratisation program this year. Scholarships are available for Indian students. Applications are due on December 10 2010. 
9. Applications for the Conservation Leadership Program are open. The deadline is November 15. 
10. Pratilipi is bringing out a special issue on Kashmir. Submissions in the form of art and fiction are invited by November 20, 2010.
 
Talks 
As part of the Goethe Institute's CoLab-Goethe Lecture Series on Practices in Contemporary Art & Architecture, Mysore-based artist N.S. Harsha will deliver a lecture on his artistic practice titled "1969", on October 27 at 6 pm, at Max Mueller Bhavan. 

Exhibitions, Festivals and Events
1. The Nigah Queer Fest will take place in Delhi from 26th November to 5th December, 2010. Entries in any form of visual media are invited, by November 10, 2010.  
2. Bangalore Pride will be meeting at ALF on 27 October as part of the Bangalore Queer Habba. There will also be the Bangalore Pride march on 28 October, 2010.  

News
1. October 25-29 is the Youth LGBTQ awareness week. 
2.  Bookworm Goa wants to start an online book discussion forum. If you're interested, drop them a word.
